"RTRT Extended Infrastructure" indicates that part of the RTRT infrastructure characterized as having been realized through the use of ISPs accredited by TIX. Thanks to the network interchange within TIX, fully implemented in the first half of 2003 using public accreditation procedures, the RTRT has become a multi-vendor network. In fact, accredited ISPs are included in a list, in which all public administrative bodies may negotiate services and relevant costs under guarantee of quality standards in line with the specific Network Operating Center (SPC).

In order to connect to the extended RTRT, an entity, aside from being in compliance with the procedures for RTRT access, must:

• select an accredited provider from the list, in the manner prescribed by the regulations
• notify both the Region and TIX about their intention of connecting in this way by filling out the forms provided in PDF (80 Kb) or RTF (25 Kb)

Upon reception of this request, the Region shall authorize TIX to work with the selected accredited ISP in order to activate the VPN for access to the RTRT services reserved for Public Administration, such as access to the Public Connectivity System (or SPC, the national operational network for all Italian Public Bodies).

Alternatively, entity public administrative body may connect to the RTRT and its services via the Primary infrastructure.
